FTP client and history

I have a strange problem. From my desktop (FC3/KDE) I can ftp from Konsole to my FC3 servers and the up arrow shows my command history and the backspace key moves you back a space like expected. However, when I ftp from my linux servers to another ftp server, the up arrow gives me '^[[A'. In addition, a coworker with a Windows desktop sees the same behavior but also loses his backspace ability when ftp'ing from the linux servers. My backspace works fine. He is always connecting to the servers through secureCRT. Can anyone offer any insight as to why this happens and how to correct it? Not having history in ftp is annoying. Thanks, Brad

I believe that for each new server you connect to, it is like opening a new terminal with a blank history. Assuming you are using cmd line ftp. Can you get the yahoo or SBC DSL in St. Joe? They are supposed to be offering it for $14.95/mo. If you do a self install, just don't install the stupid software, which is useless. I actually had to reload a winders PC for someone after their fine software hosed the system. All you have to do is call em when the self install kit arroves and read off the MAC of the DSL "modem" so the provisioning can happen and set everything for DHCP and you're golden. If you know enough, you can work around the fact that you don't have winders connected when you troubleshoot. Hell, I had Knoppix on my laptop that I whipped out during my last Comcast install. I just verified that I got an IP and pulled up the current Slashdot. Done. The guy didn't even blink at me about it. A lot of it is attitude, as in an "air of knowledge", that you present yourself with on the tech support line. I always go into it with, "I have tried this, this and this, and I think this is the problem, can you please verify from your end." But don't be an ass on the phone. Treat them how you want to be treated. CenturyTel -- anti Linux

I'm writing this from a friend's WINDOWS machine . . . . For the last 10 days I've been WITHOUT internet service. Once again I can not dial into the Savannah CenTel servier, yet I can dial into other locl ISP's and connect (at least the modems do). After raising a big #$%^&$%^# stink with Corporate, they dispatched a tech, who found NOTHING wrong with the phone lines, and blamed LINUX for not working. Even after I showed him exactly what was going on. My next goal is to file a formal complaint with the PSC and the MO AG and maybe they'll take my complaints seriously. Their standard cop-out is: WE DON'T SUPPORT LINUX Then they stop thinking. Yet it has worked just fine with Linux -- it is an intermittent and they have NO interest in finding out WHY. I've heard from just about everyone that CenturyTel has rotten "customer service" -- and I have to concur. Sorry about the rant, but I think CenTel doesn't deserve the business it has from its captive customers (ex GTE customers). Gary Hildebrand St. Joseph, MO

dual head nvidia board config for two monitors

Getting the two monitors two work side by side as one really wide screen was darn easy. What other configs can be done? Can the following be done? how? login once to get both monitors going on the same login. Each monitor is its own screen. I got this running fine with two independent "Screen" sections both contained in the XFree config layout. Just cant get the cursor into the 2nd screen....
