Position Description

Title:                         Senior Information Systems Administrator

Reports to:            Chief Financial Officer

Purpose:                 The Senior Information Systems Administrator (SISA) is a technical contact for managers and users from all business areas, providing systems administration, training, hardware and software support, and development services.  In partnership with the CFO, the SISA provides planning, project leadership, technical consulting, and R&D services for all business units in the company, external business partners and customers.  The SISA is responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of all major network hardware components.  SISA is directly responsible for supervision of CIS functions under direction of the CFO.

Essential Functions:   

Coordinate and implement all technical and system administration requests for assigned business areas, including:

·        LAN/WAN hardware and equipment support and system administration.

·        Commercial software support and system administration.

·        Custom software maintenance, support, and system administration.

·        Design new queries and reports in both Access and Excel as needed.

·        Provide or coordinate new employee systems training and orientation for associates at all levels.

·        Communicate disposition, schedules, and status to managers, users, and CFO.

·        Maintain technical awareness in order to assist with the steering of CIS and user areas, including the implementation of new technologies.

·        Meet with select users in business areas to evaluate opportunities for cost effective uses of technology to improve work processes, products, and services.

·        Maintain a schedule of current and future projects, requests, and open support incidents.  Help to prioritize the implementation of planned items.

·        Perform projects and support tasks as assigned by the CFO.

·        Assist CFO with technology planning and assessment for all business areas.

·        Manage and perform multiple concurrent projects and support tasks as assigned by CFO.

·        Must be available for both planned and unplanned network support outside the normal business hours including weekends.

·        Understand and adhere to all aspects of AJG’s SOX and IT policies.

·        Train and orientate users in computer system.

Qualifications:

Education:  A bachelor’s degree with specialization in computer science or Microsoft MCSE certification is preferred.  A business degree with specialization in computer science or comparable professional training is also acceptable. 

      Experience:  A minimum of 3 years experience in a technical support, LAN administrator, technical project management, or programmer/analyst position is required.  Experience should be in a networked environment utilizing Windows operating systems.  Demonstrated ability to work well with users of various skill levels, managers, and vendors is necessary.  Background in insurance and/or consulting is a plus.

      Technical Skills:   Intermediate to advanced knowledge in:

·        Windows network operating systems

·        Windows 2000 or greater including Active Directory

·        MS-DOS

·        MS Office 2000 or greater, including advanced in Access and Excel.

·        Telecommunications configuration and administration

·        Lotus Notes

·        SQL Server, Enterprise Edition

·        Citrix

·        Applied experience preferred

·        Blackberry setup
