Does anyone have a 56K PCI modem that works with Linux that they just have lying around in their basement or computer room? I am trying to get a computer up and running with Linux for my brother in law and the Broadcom modem that he has does not have a compileable driver for the 2.6 kernel.
I hate to say it, but a friend of mine spent two years wrestling with Fedora trying to get several PCI modems to work, and ended up giving up on Linux because of it.
External modems almost always work, on the other hand, and require no special drivers.
