I recently inherited an SGI Indigo2, woo woo. Slight problem with it, though, that maybe some folks on the LUG list can help me with?
I need a 13w3 video cable. I found a couple places online that sell them, but they start at $50 and that's just a tad too expensive for me.
The company I got the machine from has a second Indigo I could pick up, but it is missing the CD-ROM drive and consequently the drive cage needed for the CD-ROM drive.
And finally... these two machines haven't been used in years, and nobody at the company remembers the root login, and they no longer have the installation media. Does anyone have any idea where I could find a copy of IRIX 6.2 or 6.5? I'm not sure what else (IRIX-wise) would run on the R4400 processor in these things, heh. If all else fails I suppose I could put Linux on there, or BSD.
So anyway, does anyone have some of these things that they would like to get rid of, or could point me to some place local that carries at least the video cable?
Thanks,
Rich

I have an external SCSI enclosure/IDE CD-ROM that works with IRIX (IRIX is kind of funny about which CD-ROMs it supports), but I still use it from time to time. You can borrow it for the install process, though, if you like.
Of course, if you're keeping both Indigos then you can setup a install server on the one w/ the CD-ROM, and install the other over the network. It might be fun.

6.5 runs fine on my Indy, so it should certainly run on the Indigo2.

I'd be careful about the using Sun video cables. I'm not sure what's different, but I've tried to use my 13w3-to-VGA converter on my Indy, and it wouldn't work at all. However, my Indy works fine with its SGI monitor, and my Ultra-60 works fine with the converter.
