It remains that given a layout done with HTML table markup, and a layout done with XML/CSS, the former will display more consistenly and reliably for a wider variety of REAL WORLD users than the latter.
It's the fault of the browser's coders, yadda, yadda, yadda, but the REALITY is that tables display more consistently.

With sufficient effort they may be equals in consistency and CSS the greater in features. Check out http://www.wired.com/ with and without styles -- you can also view it in your cell phone.
