I am now out of invites, if I get more I will repost.
I, for one, am most appreciative of the folks with gmail invites who chose to share them with this list. Bravo, great community spirit, etc.
Say, it's been quite a while since I've seen some of your faces - and some I've surely never met at all. I've been missing my pals from KULUA as well, but since they don't meet regularly, at least I have an excuse. In that vein, I've been thinking of throwing another "social" (troll the KULUA archives to find out why they long ago quit calling them "meetings") to bring many of these folks once again into close proximity.
It makes a lot of sense to me that if such an event is likely to occur with low frequency (like an annual summer BBQ or whatever), it might function well if members of all LUGs in the KC area be invited to attend. I'm thinking of KULUA, KCLUG, ILUG, etc.
Anyone have any thoughts on this? I've got ample space to host such an event.

Sounds like a good idea, to me.

I too have ample space - being a full campground we could accommodate any long range attendees who are campers or want to sleep in a bare bones cabin - my wife's bookings allowing - I'd be able to get a cheap rate for renting her 2 cabins if there is interest . The summer still has a few good weekends here and while being a bit north of most of this group if any are interested do speak up . Main plus this location has is spouses and kids can be occupied to let us geeks do our thing :>

Ah, now there's one of those fellas I've not seen since... oh what was it, Linuxfest 2000? (Anyone remember that mess?)
Well - I myself am somewhat central to Kansas City - I've got a place in Hyde Park. Now before everyone gets concerned about crime and the like, I'm exception to the rule in that I live in historic Janssen Place. There are several multi-million dollar homes on the block, and thus we are somewhat immune to crime because of some folks with bucks who know someone else and dialing 911 from here apparently means something. Oh and lets not forget, I AM a geek with a gun so... <snicker>
I think this would have to be a weekend for sure if I host. Next weekend, Saturday the 11th would really be good for me, but is kinda short notice. It _is_ a significant date for most Americans too, so perhaps a bad call, but I'm willing to make something good of it. The next opportunity for me would be Saturday September 25th.
I'm inclined to say the 11th... but would prefer to be accommodating as well. Everyone concerned, please let me know what you think, and I'll probably be ready to post invitations to LUG lists by Tuesday.
Dustin
I have 6 invites if anyone wants one.
Sounds like fun, although some of us will need designated drivers ;)

I've got ample floor space, a futon for the first to claim it, etc. Parking is probably the only real issue - but not a big one. We'll just fill up the street I expect.
I think if we do something during the day on a Saturday, like BBQ and the like, with perhaps one or two presentations on something interesting - then we have the evening to burn in Westport or any other form of madness. I, for one, prefer to stay in and socialize with my own kind after a day like that, but our options are wide open of course.
This could go down like the last significant social I hosted. Anyone remember the wall of pr0n?
