We need to have this event or one like it held in KC!

I agree, but how would we go about getting conventions like this held in town? Would we have to create our own convention? I feel the midwest is lacking in good conferences to attend, but maybe that's because I'm not looking hard enough.

I think that's a fair statement
Historical point of interest. The genus for penguicon occurred right here in KC on the last full day of the ill-fated Linuxfest 2000. Rob Landley who was in attendance at that event brainstormed in the parking lot Friday evening.

KC lost La Raza. Maybe it would go for La Penguin. But not before the city builds that extra 1,000 room hotel downtown.

Historical precedent is nice. What then of a one afternoon "picopenguicon?"
