.mp3 files give no sound when played in Amarok.
Crweb had me install some lib stuff that should have added support, but "w32codecs" said it had no installation target, like it had changed it's name. He linked me to a .deb, which wouldn't install because it was meant for i386 and not x64.
its not w32codecs that amarok uses do this and all your troubles will be over ( as far as mp3's for amarok )

That is one of the things I added. Still no sound out of Amarok. It acts like it is playing though.

This is probably an obvious question, but have you checked your WAVE output levels in alsamixer, or whatever mixer you are using?
