Just downloaded a Gentoo based livecd that has XGL running on both gnome and kde.... Unfortunately, I can't seem to extract the iso image with either Ark, File Roller or Karchiver. I installed p7zip and using command line 7za I keep getting unsupported file type errors. I am unfamiliar with 7za and p7zip... Can someone offer info on how to extract this file? file name=RR64-Linux-3.0b1.iso.7z Thanks

The first Gentoo-based LiveCD to offer the XGL sample was the Kororaa LiveCD. Give that one a try; lots of people have been ranting about it. I tried it a few weeks ago and it completely blew me away.
Just on a general note, I did an experiment when I first heard of 7z a while ago. It appears to be better than bzip2 (which is of course better than gzip), so provided the licensing terms are correct and it has/gets a gzip-like interface (and accompanying tar integration-- I think '7' is an open option), it may very well start to take off as the third-gen compression. ;)

LGPL correct enough for you?

Sure is.
