Folks: I usually get an inbox full of posts to the list, but lately nothing. Am I alone in this or is the list down (if so, why am I sending this? In addition, how will I get an answer if I can't see the list's output?) Could somebody mail me about this situation? (There, that should do it...:-)

This is what happens when Linux reaches perfection.
Its just like if there was world peace and no crime in the world, the evening news would be quite boring.

No, they would just find weirder stuff to report on - such as "Jane, this is John, and I am standing at the corner of 5th and Howe. I am happy to report that it is snowing here as well! While most of you might think this is an unusual event, it indeed happens every year, and they still stick me out here to take a picture of it so that I look like a dope that is seeing his first snowfall... Again, it is snowing where I am - back to you Jane"... or ..."Crisis at your local grocery Store! Are the expiration dates on the Campbells Soup cans wearing off before they expire?". They will find something to jabber about ;)

Hello. Lowell. Don't you think it's time to wake up? You have been sleeping for so long now.
or is the list down (if so, why am I sending this? In addition, how will I get an answer if I can't see the list's output?)
I am sure your dreams will conjure up some witty responses.

Time to wake up/
It's the internet, it crashed again. It often crashes for the holidays; and of course on internet cleaning day (april 1.)
