What's the quickest trick to get a proxim wifi usb adaptor to work with ubuntu? Craig at my campground has tried everything for hours with no luck. Any suggestions are appreciated. Google etc has been a flat bust. TIA Oren

Kansas City Snort User Group - Meeting Today

Tonight, we'll be having our February KCSUG meeting. We'll have this at the usual place; the KC Public Library in the Plaza. Live meeting software for Linux questions

What Linux software can be recommended for live meetings? Ranging from the simplest "remote family meeting" to elaborate stuff for perhaps - the RMS remote lecture to KCLUG? And related to that possible things such as remote meetings of KCLUG with OTHER related groups. The past archives were and are a good concept, but the real time interactive aspect seems worth exploring. "The next best thing to being there"

Folks: A friend works on Macs exclusively and an announcement of an M$ Word vulnerability went across one of the sites she visits. This engendered a discussion of his habit of always working with administrative rights , and separate root accounts and being able to "su -" in a terminal. Then I (we) remembered that one must "verify..." and then "repair permissions" on a regular basis, even when working with administrative permissions all the time. I recall hearing that that is a common failing in the recent MacOS's (X.*) I remember some people on this list speaking of working with or using Mac's; would anyone care to comment on this situation, i.e. working as root (that's what it amounts to) and still having permission problems...

nfs weirdness

my server nfs-exports / to certain peers. / is ext3fs. There is a mount point /bulky which is reiserfs. changes occuring on /bulky are not reflected in the nfs clients' views. nfs has been shut down and restarted with no effect. The clients see a picture of /bulky that is very out of date. Anyone know what might be happening?
