Help!!! my box has had a stroke

Fortunately it still works for e-mail, but I have a fair amount of critical files, and I can't use Konquerer to shuffle them off to disk. Shy of kissing everything goodbye and re-installing -- is there anyone who could help me either re-install KDE or extract the files to a CD or two, so I can continue? It would be easier if I could bring things in; my house is crammed and I can barely navigate as it is. FYI system here is SuSE 7.2 and I have the CD's. I'm wondering if I could configure the ethernet card and simply transfer files that way, burn CD's and then go on from there??? It took a power bump just one too many times and fsck just ate up the inodes. Gary Hildebrand St. Joseph

two Email domains

I am running Postfix from Mandrake 10 and am trying to run two domains from my place of employment. for some reason they are getting crossed because if I send an email to name(a)mydomain1.com it somehow gets renamed to name(a)mydomain2.com. Is there a way through virtual hosts to isolate these domains? name(a)mydomain1.com gets forwarded to an aol account which is set up through procmail But name(a)mydomain2.com seems to be forwarding also in addition to going to the proper address. Microsoft Releases Image Handling Patch

According to Computerworld, "Microsoft has released a "critical" patch to fix a security flaw affecting how Windows, Office and developer tools software programs process images in the JPEG image format." That sounds suspiciously like the imagelib vulnerabilities that were patched last week. You don't suppose Microsof would stoop to using free Open Source code internally in Windows, do you?

FYI, both sites appear to be Firefox/firebird/firefengle friendly. About Sybase, they may be a little too late to the game, but alternatively it offers a M$ -> Linux pathway for current Sybase users. So I say anything that creates Linux opportunity and choice is a good thing. Personally, I think MySQL is winning the DB wars. With Postgres a close second. I wonder what Wal-Mart uses these days? Not true. I had the opportunity to purchase a .44 "semi-automatic" rifle a few years back. Totally legally, before the Clinton ban. This is called a semi-automatic, but in reality is a .44 sub-machine gun. A simple modification turns this semi-automatic "assault weapon" into a fully automatic mass-people-killing "assault weapon". The modification is and almost always has been illegal, but lots of people do it anyway, I'm sure. I'm sorry, but I really see no reason for these weapons to be legal. I have a gun and use it to kill food with (food <> human beings), and Shooting a deer with an assault weapon pretty much nullifies the food quality part of it, not to mention the fur/leather quality.

RAID array troubles... suggestions?

I'm trying to get a new fileserver at work up and running, we're using SuSE 9.1 with a 3ware 9500S-12 RAID card (uses the 3w-9xxx module), and 12 250GB SATA drives. Problem is, I can't create a partition on this thing of over 300G. The default SuSE kernel does include large block device support (CONFIG_LBD=y). Linux fdisk has problems with creating a device over 2TB, but even GNU parted can't create more than a 300G partition on this raid array. I suppose I COULD forego the partition and create the array right on /dev/sdb (instead of /dev/sdb1), but I really don't feel comfortable with doing such a thing. I have tried the latest kernel and the latest firmware for the RAID card, too. Anyone have any ideas? The RAID card itself can see and use the entire array (I hit Alt-3 when booting, and verified the array), so I'm beginning to think it's got to be a driver issue. Rich
